As part of our strategy in progressing the FODS to further enhance the community we have decided to create and grow a Neighbourhood watch scheme for our village.
FODS have joined the national Neighbourhood Watch scheme and are now part of the Rugby Borough Neighbourhood Watch and our scheme will be known as Friends of Dunchurch Society NHW Scheme.
Like all similar associations in the UK we are an independent, self governing, voluntary body constituted on democratic principles. Its inclusive nature is based on equal opportunity for all of us along with the police and local partners, to build safe and friendly communities to help make Dunchurch and Warwickshire a healthier and happier place in which to live and work.
Communication within the group is very important and this will be encouraged by Email, Facebook and Website circulation, followed up by the FODS newsletter email and FODS Magazine. In this environment we are able to receive and also supply information and advice on police and national NHW alerts together with relevant crime prevention.
In more recent months 'Working Parties' have been set up to help with gardening projects, maintenance work and litter picking with a view to entering this summer, for the first time, Dunchurch in Bloom as part of Rugby in Bloom and Heart of England in Bloom.
Special social events have been held to raise money for the running of our group, including the very popular and successful ‘Prosecco, Puddings , Promises and Performance’ evening held in March.
Our NHW scheme this year will be attending Dunchurch Carnival & Fete Day on Saturday 15th June assisted by Rugby Borough NHW, there will be a stand and trailer display with information on NHW, crime prevention and security advice together with stickers and leaflets plus security devices on sale.
We also plan to have open meetings for residents with the local police and other emergency services.
We therefore encourage as many people as possible, young and old to join us in helping us achieve our aim by signing up to your local community on:
